PreciTaste Wins “FoodTech AI Innovation Award” In 2024 AgTech Breakthrough Awards Program

PreciTaste, offering AI-driven automation solutions for foodservice operations, today announced it has garnered the “FoodTech AI innovation Award” in the 5th annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by AgTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies, and products in the global agricultural and food technology markets today.

PreciTaste uses advanced AI technology to reduce food waste in the restaurant space. Utilizing their AI-driven predictions and system, clients can achieve more food availability and prevent food waste. The company offers three core products: Prep Assistant, Planner Assistant, and Station Assistant. All products power kitchen automation, and through Predictive AI, actively reduce food waste by mitigating overproduction, leftover products, and stockouts, all while increasing food availability.

Prep Assistant optimizes ingredient prep through AI, giving operators a smarter way to manage inventory. By using information from each operation, the solution predicts demand and guides crews on how much to prep per day. Recommending the optimum quantities helps to reduce stockouts and overproduction and helps to optimize bulk ingredient prep. Through AI and demand predictions, its easy-to-follow instructions speed up prep and ensure food is fresh and prepared in the right quantities.

The Planner Assistant uses quantity forecasts to produce an automated production schedule to ensure crews make the right quantity at the right time. The solution provides clear instructions for specific perishable food production through automated inventory management.

PreciTaste’s Station Assistant enhances the Prep and Planner applications by guiding crews on what to cook based on demand predictions, deep learning recommendations, and live inventory sensing through computer vision – which indicates when specific ingredients are running low and when to make them meet the predicted demand. Station Assistant uses Vision-AI to give crews on-demand instructions and information displayed on screens and enables the ability to monitor fill levels and provide concise instructions that include exact measurements.

“In the food service industry, food is often overproduced as restaurants fear they may run out or it is put out too early, deemed unfit to sell, then discarded. Our AI solutions help clients cut costs while combating the food waste crisis. If we were to implement our solutions in just 6% of food service locations across the US and Europe, the annual CO2 savings would be equivalent to 15 million gasoline car emissions,” said PreciTaste co-founder and CEO Ingo Stork-Wersborg. “Going forward, we’ll continue to deliver proven, AI-powered tools to digitize kitchens and fulfill our mission of making foodservice operations more sustainable.”

The mission of the annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of agricultural and food technology categories, including Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based agricultural technologies, farm management, indoor farming, food quality, data analytics and many more. This year’s program attracted thousands of nominations from over 15 different countries throughout the world.

“PreciTaste empowers restaurants of all sizes by providing them with the tools needed to compete in the restaurant industry, reducing waste and helping them adopt modern AI. Food waste is one of the highest CO2 emitters, with about one-third of it coming from the food service industry. Up to 40% of food is wasted in the QSR space,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, AgTech Breakthrough. “PreciTaste’s products emphasize reducing food waste and the accompanying CO2 emissions. We’re proud to bestow the ‘FoodTech AI Innovation Award’ upon PreciTaste and look forward to continuing enhancements to these cutting-edge products that reduce waste and optimize kitchen management.”
